How we calculate commute time

This is a simplified model. Every result is an estimate — the actual time depends on the time of day, the timetable and where you go from the station.

  1. To the nearest metro station

We take the straight-line distance to the nearest M1 or M2 station and multiply it by 1.3 (streets are not straight). Up to 1.3 km we assume walking (4.8 km/h); beyond that, a bus or tram (16 km/h on average, plus 6 min to reach the stop and wait).

  2. Waiting for the metro

    3 minutes on the platform.

  3. Metro ride

2 minutes per stop. When you need to change lines, we add 4 minutes for the change at Świętokrzyska.

  4. Rounding

We round the result to 5 minutes so as not to suggest a precision the model does not have.

The model does not account for traffic, time of day, SKM and KM trains, direct bus routes to the destination, or the walk from the station to the office door. The final version will use the ZTM timetable (GTFS).
